Experimental Lecture – Eleonoren School
February 27, 2025
In December 05, 2024, Eleonoren School visited the high voltage laboratory in Griesheim for an experimental lecture. Various fun experiments from the fields of high voltage and high current technology were demonstrated to the students. Through these experiments, the students were given small insights into important physical relationships between current, voltage, electric and magnetic fields. Among other things, the following topics were covered: – The principle of Faraday's cage – The force between two repelling magnetic fields – The relationship between alternating currents and magnetic fields – The effects of high electric fields and field strengths
Dienstjubiläum langjähriger Mitarbeitender im Fachgebiet HBA
Februar 12, 2025
Excursion of Power Cable Systems lecture
January 27, 2025
On 24.01.2025, we visited Südkabel GmbH and FGH Engineering & Test GmbH in Mannheim together with the students. During the factory tour at Südkabel, students were able to marvel at the production of cables, cable joints and cable accessories. The knowledge about cables learned in the lecture could be applied directly in the industrial environment. Fittingly, the afternoon continued at FGH. The day was rounded off with a detailed tour of the independent institute's test laboratories. Test fields for the pre-qualification testing of direct current cables were visited in line with the lecture.
Strategic partnership with Graz University of Technology
December 30, 2024
From 16.12.2024 to 20.12.2024, we were visiting the Graz University of Technology in Austria. The focus of the visit was the scientific exchange on the measurement of space charges in insulating materials. By presenting the research topics of the participating doctoral students, further common interests in the characterization of insulation materials could be found and discussed. The individual experience gained in carrying out and evaluating laboratory experiments was very helpful for both sides.
Sabrina Deck gewinnt Dr. Karl-Heinz Weck-Preis

FG HBA at the CIGRE Paris Session 2024
August 30, 2024
Meeting of the global energy industry
The CIGRE Paris Session 2024, which took place from August 25 to 30, 2024 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, is one of the world's most important events in the energy sector. The conference brings together leading experts, engineers and decision-makers to discuss current topics and innovations in power supply and energy technology. Participants can look forward to exciting technical presentations, interactive discussions and a comprehensive exhibition on the latest technologies. The conference offers a unique opportunity to analyze global trends and develop sustainable solutions for the challenges of the energy transition. All this in a professional exchange with numerous international experts from all over the world! Tobias Müller has worked on a paper together with HAEFELY AG, one of the world's leading suppliers of high-voltage testing and measurement technology. The paper “Requirements for onsite test systems for the after-installation test of HVDC cable systems” was presented as part of the poster session at the CIGRE Paris Session 2024.
