alternating voltage tests

Alternating voltage cascade

The alternating voltage cascade, built in 1961, is used for research purposes and for customer tests.

The cascade consists of two stages, each generating 600 kV. Both stages contain two windings positioned on one common core.

The alternating voltage cascade includes a voltage measurement system, which is able to measure voltages in the range of 95 kV up to 980 kV. The measurement system is approved according to IEC 60060-2.

Technical details of the ac-cascade:

  • AC tests: up to 1.2 MV
  • Frequency: 16 Hz / 60 Hz
  • Power: up to 1.2 MVA
  • Number of stages: 2

The standard tests, which can be performed, are listed under the item Accredited testing laboratory.
