Grid expansion in the context of the public opinions
The seminar will be organized as block course at the following days:
- Monday, 20 April 2020
- Monday, 27 April 2020

In case an overlap with the excursion occurs the session will be held at another date.
The necessity of the construction of new transmission lines and the extension of existing grid infrastructure is relatively unquestioned by the operators of the power grid. Nevertheless these measures often encounter public resistance. Thus, today it is nearly unavoidable for engineers to reflect the own work with respect to public acceptance.
In this seminar the students will discuss one of the many claims raised by e.g. local initiatives operating in the context of grid expansion and the installation of additional renewable energy sources. Taking the technical arguments of the chosen initiative, the students will link them to the technical/engineering background and they will discuss the findings with respect to technical possibilities to increase the public acceptance.
Form of Examination:
The Examination consists of an ungraded short presentation and a graded seminar paper plus presentation.
Further information and the documents related to the seminar will be provided via Moodle.
